A point so interesting by Oprah it needs it own post

Diane Weathers is the former editor in chief of Essence magazine.

On the 1st installment of the Oprah Town Hall meeting, which aired yesterday, there was this exchange about Snoop Dogg:

Diane Weathers: Snoop was going to almost be in a Muppets Christmas episode. Why is he sanctioned by the mainstream when he has Black women on leashes?"

Oprah: He wouldn't be sanctioned by all those various companies and get all those endorsements if they didn't think that was okay...if they didnt think WE thought it was okay!"

Great point. What do you think?

I sure am shocked. But I found the top entertainment story hilarious, so much so I took a screen capture:



In cas it isnt readily apparent, the title referring to pot and the opening sentence referring to mr. dog's facial structure as "stone-faced" is brilliant.

Interestingly enough, the provisions of Snoop's 5 years of probation and 800 hours of community service (for being arrested at Bob Hope Airport in Burbank on suspicion of transporting marijuana and later police found a gun at his home):

• Only 400 hours of the community service could involve the youth football league.
• He can't have any gang members in his entourage
• Must notify the probation department before leaving the state.
• He must provide authorities a DNA sample and he must have a medical permit if he uses marijuana.
