Go check out the Soweto Gospel Choir…

I saw them last night at the Pantages Theatre in Tacoma, Washington and they were phenomenal. Consisting of 2 acts, they sang, at various times, acapella, with 2 men playing djembes or with a 4 piece band (bass, keyboard, drums and guitar). They did American standards such as “Amazing Grace” and “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot”, as well as the famous “Mbube”, or what Americans more commonly know as ”The Lion Sleeps Tonight”. Singing 16 songs in total, they were worth the $40 ticket price and more.

There is nothing like voices in exquisite harmonies, and this choir showed time and time again why they are the 2007 Grammy winner in the Best Traditional World Music Album category for ”Blessed”.

Visit their website. Their US tour continues through April 23rd
